As I look back over the last 20 years as a member of the LPGA Amateur Golf Association - San Antonio, formerly EWGA, I can only say that I have made some of the most lasting friendships that I have ever had in my life. The first event I attended was a kick-off held in March of 1998 where about 200 women gathered to hear about the new organization that would create an environment to learn the game and play golf. From there, lessons and fun non-threatening tee times were provided - just like now. There were so many ladies during those early days who helped me understand more about their love for the game, and it has certainly grown to be a love of mine as well.
I also want to thank the organization for another chance to be president. We are blessed with a terrific board of directors who take the time and effort to think through the calendar of events and make sure there are plenty of ways for the beginner to play as well as for those who like a challenge and competition. They also ensure that plenty of fun events are created off of the course as well.
My challenge to each of you is to become involved with a committee to help either plan social activities, golf events or help plan ways recruit new members and retain them to our organization. Then, think about coming onto the board as we need to develop a succession plan for leadership.
Thank you for your trust and confidence throughout 2018 as I anticipate a fantastic year both on and off of the golf course! Remember that the word for the year is "FUN".
With Warmest Regards to Each,
LPGA Amateur Golf Association - San Antonio
